The Voice raises the volume on Britain's Got Talent

The Voice 2012: Jaz Ellington
The Voice pulled further ahead of its ITV1 rival Britain's Got Talent with double its audience when the two went head-to-head with their latest outings on Saturday night.BBC1's singing talent show ended its four weeks of "blind auditions" with 10.7 million viewers, a 45.5% share, between 7pm and 8.20pm on Saturday.Britain's Got Talent drew 9.6 million viewers on ITV1, rising to 10.2 million with ITV1+1, a 40.1% share between 8pm and 9.15pm.It is the first time the BBC1 show has beaten Britain's Got Talent with its timeshifted audience included, with an overall lead of 500,000 viewers. In the brief period when the two were head to head, The Voice attracted 12 million viewers, and Britain's Got

Talent 6.1 million.Having brought the launch of Britain's Got Talent forward to counter The Voice, the Simon Cowell show will be withdrawn from the line of fire next week, pushed back in the schedule to 8.30pm to avoid any overlap with the BBC1 show.

Next week will also see a double helping of The Voice on Saturday and Sunday as it moves to the next stage of the format, with contestants singing off against each other to remain in the show. The Voice predictably had the better of ITV1's All Star Family Fortunes, which had 3.4 million viewers (15.2%) between 7pm and 8pm, while Britain's Got Talent turned the tables on BBC1's The National Lottery: In It To Win It, which was in it but didn't win it with 4.3 million (17.2%) between 8.20pm and 9.10pm.
