A teenage boy has been arrested in connection with the 'spiked drink' death of a girl
Rose Farley, 15,  collapsed and died after her drink was spiked with ecstasy, according to her pals.
She had spent Friday night at a social club party and fell ill when she returned home.
She was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital at 3.30am on Saturday but died 90 minutes later.
Today police said they had arrested a 16-year-old boy from the Merseyside area on suspicion of supplying controlled substances.
A force spokesman said: "He is currently in police custody and being questioned by officers."
Police are treating Rose's death as "unexplained".
A post mortem examination had been carried out, but the cause of her death has been withheld pending toxicology results.
Det Supt Tim Keelan of Merseyside Police said: "At this stage it is too early to draw conclusions about the cause of death and it is unhelpful to speculate.
"The implication that this may be drug related is just one of the lines of inquiry that our comprehensive investigation is looking at.
"That said, I would like to take this opportunity to warn people about the dangers of taking illegal substances.
"The effects of drugs are not always immediately apparent or can be delayed.
"This can sometimes result in people taking more in order to speed up the effects. This can have devastating results, one of which can be death."
The death of Rose, of West Derby, Merseyside, comes just days after police in Liverpool warned people about the dangers of a new strain of the class A drug, which has been nicknamed Dr Death.
More than 2,500 people have joined a tribute group on Facebook set up in Rose’s memory.
One friend posted: “RIP Rose, god only accepts the best and your one beautiful angel now, should never have happened xxx”.
Another said: “Worst shock ever!! Too young, had every right to live the rest of her life, was a happy girl, always put a smile on my face without fail, going to miss her a lot, thoughts go out to her family xxx.”
