Samsung Galaxy S3 displaces iPhone as ‘UK’s most popular phone’

Analysis of internet search data says more Britons are looking online for the Samsung Galaxy S3 than any other device.

Samsung Galaxy S3
Samsung’s new Galaxy S3 now ranks as the UK’s most popular handset based on live searches and sales, according to the uSwitch.com Mobile Tracker.
The iPhone 4S replaced the previous model, the Galaxy S2, last month, but the S3 pushed it down to second place on its first appearance in the online chart.
HTC’s One Series handsets now feature three times in the top ten, while Sony retains just one phone on the list, with its Xperia S at number ten.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 had been at number one for 11 consecutive months; it is now at number three, meaning Samsung takes four of the top ten places thanks to the Ace at five and the Note at six.
Apple’s iPhone 4S is at two, while the iPhone 4 is at seven.
Ernest Doku, technology expert at uSwitch.com, said “As far as early adopters are concerned, the S3 is living up to expectations. But what is interesting this month is the arrival of the HTC One series as a major player in the smartphone market alongside Apple and Samsung.”
The Samsung Galaxy S3 features a 4.8” screen and a new technology to track users’ eye movements so that the device’s screen doesn’t dim. It has now been pre-ordered 10 million times by hundreds of networks around the world.
