Boone Hall Plantation in South Carolina
It was the setting of one of the most romantic recent movies – and now Boone Hall Plantation is the site of some real-life celebrity romance.
The historic South Carolina plantation, open to the public since 1956, hosted Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds hush-hush nuptials Sunday night.
The pair tied the knot on the site, just a few miles outside of downtown Charleston, S.C., which appeared prominently in 2004's romantic tear-jerker, The Notebook. (It doubled as the Hamilton's beach house, according to IMDB.)
According to its official web site, Boone Hall is still one of the country's oldest working plantations, still growing produce, including strawberries and tomatoes, which is sold in a separate market on Highway 17. It's also open to the public year-round for tours, though photos of the main plantation house are not allowed. The main home has also reportedly been featured on Days of Our Lives and the ABC mini-series North and South.
As for the evening ceremony, guests included Lively's good friend Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine), who performed during the reception, which took place in a white tent overlooking the water near the plantation's Cotton Docks. A deejay also spun tunes, and a cake was driven down from Virginia for the occasion.
