Madonna Breaks Chart Records

Madonna has broken another chart record as new album 'M.D.N.A.' gives the icon another number one.
One of the most successful performers in pop history,

Madonna has sometimes been labelled the female Elvis Presley. Now with the release of her new album 'M.D.N.A.' the singer has overtaken the King himself.
Her twelfth solo album, 'M.D.N.A.' saw Madonna collaborate with the likes of William Orbit, M.I.A., LMFAO and Benny Benassi.

Released last week, 'M.D.N.A.' immediately went to the top of the charts. Pre-orders pushed Madonna out in front, and - after the sales were finally counted - the singer comfortably flew in at number one.

The result means that Madonna has overtaken Elvis Presley as the solo artist with the most number one albums. However that could change - the King's back catalogue is continually refreshed, as each generation comes to grips with his legacy.

David Guetta sits at number two, while Emili Sande returns to third place. Adele sits at number four, with American pop icon Jessie J one place behind.

Coldplay's 'Mylo Xyloto' has proved to be an enduring presence on the charts, with Chris Martin's crack troops placed at number seven. Ed Sheeran sits at number eight, with Lana Del Rey falling down three places at number nine.

Last week's number one, Paul Weller falls a dramatic nine places to number ten. 'Sonik Kicks' hit the top spot last week, with the feat meaning that the Modfather has scored number one albums in five different decades.
The current UK Top Ten albums are:
1. Madonna - M.D.N.A.
2. David Guetta - Nothing But The Beat
3. Emili Sande - Our Version Of Events
4. Adele - 21
5. Jessie J - Who You Are
6. Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
7. Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto
8. Ed Sheeran - +
9. Lana Del Rey - Born To Die
10. Paul Weller - Sonik Kicks
