According to reports, Simon wants to nab Will from The Voice
This doesn't sound like good news for the current X Factor judges including Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger, who have already been at the centre of axing rumours when it was reported earlier this year that Mel B will be taking over next year.
Commenting on the reports, an insider told the Mirror: "We need to do something dramatic and this would be a coup.
"It would give us the best judging line-up in X Factor history.”
It is believed that Simon wants to recruit Will in a bid to encourage Cheryl to return to the X Factor panel,
despite her revealing in her autobiography that she refused the offer.
The source added: "Will would be the best person on the planet to persuade Cheryl that one last hurrah could be fun. Though we realise it would be expensive."
Appearing quietly confident about the X Factor this year despite the show not starting off with the ratings he had hoped for, Simon told the Mirror:
"Credit to The Voice, they came up with a twist with the spinning chairs. Where shows like that or Strictly and The X Factor benefit each other is they have to improve to keep pace. I see no end in sight.
“If you’ve got the budget and the appetite for reinvention, I see no reason why they can’t be like Christmas – something you always look forward to.”
With all the speculation being bandied about, Simon's rep have refused to comment on whether or not
Simon wants to bring Cheryl back to the show.
