YouTube has announced more than 60 new, original channels set to arrive on the video platform.
YouTube partners in Germany, France, the UK and the US will provide new channels from well-known producers and celebrities, as well as emerging media companies and pioneers in online videos.
Music content will be among the clutch of new channels alongside categories such as food, health/wellness, parenting, sports, comedy, animation and news. Each will be available globally on YouTube from any device.
The new channels will join more than 100 others that rolled out on YouTube in the US since October 2011 as part of YouTube’s original channels initiative.
“Some of the most successful formats on TV come from Europe,” said Robert Kyncl, global head of Content for YouTube. “The expansion of original channels in Europe allows more content creators of all stripes, from top producers to talented up-and-comers, to build their audiences all over the world.”
A full list of new channels can be found via the YouTube website. Musical contributions include Mixmag TV from the dance publication, as well as The Best Of, from Diagonal View, which brings classical music from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.
